This is a Lord Marvel by Seiko. The Lord Marvel was the first domestic watch to be released as a luxury watch, starting in 1958 with a high price tag of about twice that of existing products. This is the Lord Marvel hand-wound Ref. 5740-0010, which held the position of Seiko's highest-grade model before the Grand Seiko appeared. The silver dial with dauphine hands is attractively simple. Although there is an engraving on the case back and some scratches from the hands on the dial, the watch is generally clean. The case has minor scratches, but no significant damage. The hand-setting operation is smooth. An aftermarket leather strap is attached. Although water resistance cannot be expected in modern times for an antique item, the seahorse and WATER PROOF engravings show that water resistance was emphasized at the time.
